Grand Gulch National Primitive Area
Anasazi habitation in the Grand Gulch area covers a period of approximately 1,000 years. Within the 36 mile long gulch are many interesting pictographs and petroglyph panels. Travel into Grand Gulch is limited to hiking and horseback. Access from Kane Springs requires about a 5 hour hike one way. Located North of Mexican Hat on US 261. Before entering the Primitive Area, it is required that your register with the BLM, Box 7, Monticello, Utah 84535 or call 801.587.1500.
